Sweden, August 2024 – Nordicon AB is proud to announce its pioneering step in sustainable logistics by becoming the first neutral consolidator to offer instant access to promoting renewable fuels for maritime transport. As a part of our ongoing commitment to reducing carbon footprints and promoting sustainable practices, Nordicon now provides clients with a seamless way to opt for renewable maritime
fuels through our customer portal, My Nordicon.

With our fully integrated biofuel insetting solution, specifically customized for Less than Container Load (LCL) shipments, clients can now reduce CO2 emissions by 25-100% when placing their bookings. This innovative service allows customers to book their LCL Ocean shipments using fully renewable fuel liquefied biomethane (LBM) by utilizing a book and claim approach, based on the energy needed
to transport containers across the ocean. Book and claim approach is a common practice where a sustainability claim is separated from the physical flow of the goods, meaning that there is no physical connection between the purchaser of freight transportation and the vessel reducing the emissions. This allows a purchaser of freight transportation services to claim the emissions reduction generated by a
carrier conducting a switch to renewable fuels elsewhere.

The renewable fuel used is certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), contains no feedstocks from the palm oil industry and reduces Wtw (well to wake) CO2 emissions per container by 100% compared to conventional fossil fuels. Clients will also receive a proof
of the sustainable fuel purchase, including an independently verified certificate of the CO2 reduction achieved by the fuel switch.

As a part of ECU Worldwide Group, Nordicon is dedicated to revolutionizing sustainable logistics and building a more sustainable future, one shipment at a time. This new product is a significant part of our groups GreenwayZ initiative and will initially be launched in Sweden in August 2024, with plans to roll out in Denmark, Finland, and Norway later this year.

This groundbreaking product offering was developed in collaboration with STX Group, a global leader in environmental commodities trading and climate solutions.

ABOUT LIQUEFIED BIOMETHANE (LBM)
Liquefied biomethane (LBM) is an established sustainable bunker fuel that can achieve net-zero emissions, depending on the feedstock used. It is commercially available in Europe, Asia, and North America. The biomethane is produced from sustainable biomass feedstocks, such as industrial and agricultural waste streams that do not compete with food production. These feedstocks are nationally or regionally defined, for example, by the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) in Europe and the
EPA’s Renewable Fuel Standards in the USA. LBM can be delivered in the form of physical molecules or “MassBalanced” whereby biomethane is injected into the gas network and transported to liquefaction plants and LNG terminals using the existing infrastructure through a system of mass balancing. Mass balancing is expected to be a feature on many alternative fuel pathways and offers a practical way of delivering the volumes of clean marine fuel the shipping industry requires.

ABOUT MARITIME BIOFUEL INSETS
Emission reductions associated with fuel switches are made available to customers through a third-party verified Book & Claim approach.
